28 May Sandals and Beaches Resorts Introducing Layaway Plan

Sandals Resorts International has become the latest travel entity to join the layaway option. Sandals is introducing Layaway & Playaway, a payment plan similar to store layaway options that enable travelers to spread the cost of a trip to Sandals or Beaches vacation over time. There are no fees and no interest payments with the Sandals plan, which can be used at any of the 18 Sandals and Beaches resorts across the Caribbean.

How does it work?

Almost exactly the same as retail stores.  Travelers must make a minimum deposit of $49 per person when booking and then select a payment plan in which the payments can be made in installments – as few as three or as many as 24.  Book with a credit card and Sandals keeps the card on file and charges you automatically every 30 days no matter which plan you choose. Final payment must be paid in full 45 days prior to travel. Please call 1-888-963-8986 to learn more about the Layaway plan offered by Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts.

GO ON A CRUISE:

The good thing about cruises is that they can usually sail around the worst of a storm. And today’s ships are extraordinarily safe and with the advanced weather tracking available today, bad weather is something they can avoid. The downside is that the cruise line always reserves the right to reschedule port calls and change itineraries for weather-related reasons and therefore you may not get to visit the places you had hoped to.

The big advantage of sailing during hurricane season is that prices tend to drop to their lowest point of the year.  Your best deals are during the fall months — late August to mid December, so it’s an attractive time to buy a cruise. And the reality is that statistically speaking the chances that your particular voyage is going to be affected by a hurricane are very slim. But it does happen, from time to time. The thing to bear in mind is that it is a possibility and to approach the cruise with the right attitude.

POPULAR CRUISE DESTINATIONS:

  • Caribbean
  • Mexico
  • Europe
  • United States
  • Australia and the South Pacific
  • Africa, Asia, South America & Indian Ocean Islands

Explore the Caribbean

THE CARIBBEAN:

When planning a trip to the Caribbean during hurricane season, it is good to know that hurricanes are less likely the further south you go. The islands of Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and St. Vincent, including the islands below them, are the least hit by hurricanes. However, as Grenada discovered in 2004 with Hurricane Ivan, never say never and keep in mind that hurricanes are unpredictable. If you still prefer to travel to the usual destinations, we recommend look for hotels and resorts that offers hurricane guarantees or something similar

Antigua
Antigua’s secluded white beaches – among the most pristine in all the Caribbean – provide the ideal setting for a tropical paradise. The azure seas surrounding all sides of the island beckon you to the beaches, all 365 of them.

Aruba
Hurricane-free year round, the beaches and hotels of Aruba welcome those who travel for romance.

Barbados
Barbados offers all the things a Caribbean vacationer needs in a tropical paradise – coral shore beaches, crystal clear waters, a climate that’s sure to delight, and for water sports enthusiasts, a dream come true.

Bonaire
Included in the “ABC” islands, along with Aruba and Curacao, Bonaire is a small island located in the southern Caribbean known for its pioneering role in the preservation of nature, in particular the preservation of the marine environment, and for its excellent scuba diving, snorkeling, and windsurfing, among other things.

Curacao
On Curacao, there’s never a shortage of exciting things to do – with sailing or fishing, kayaking or windsurfing, shopping or dining, the options feel practically endless.

Nevis
Intoxicating natural beauty, sunny skies, warm waters, and sparsely peopled beaches combine in the sister islands of St Kitts & Nevis to make them one of the most seductive spots in the Caribbean.

St Kitts
An uncrowded, unspoiled respite in the Caribbean, St. Kitts offers its natural beauty like a welcome mat for first-time and returning visitors alike. The island boasts pristine and gleaming shores surrounded by sparkling cobalt waters, plus many other facets to this impressive jewel of an island.

St Lucia
Rich in cultural history and natural beauty, the island nation of St Lucia offers a touch of everything you want in a Caribbean vacation. An unspoiled, tropical gem nestled in a chain of islands known as the Lesser Antilles, St Lucia traces its colorful history to long before colonial times, yet it has a legacy of over 400 years of European influence.

St Maarten/St Martin
Like well-suited counterparts, this striking dreamland offers two very distinct ad equally fabulous destinations on one island. The Dutch St. Maarten is a bustling haven, where surfers and divers head towards electrifying nightlife when the sun sets.    The French St. Martin provides a more low-key ambiance, where serene bays set the tone for relaxing feasts and peaceful strolls along moonlit shores.

Trinidad & Tobago
Trinidad & Tobago – two islands, one country. Two vacations in one – could you ask for a better deal? Lying just off the South American coast, this is the most culturally diverse of its peers, with a landscape and natural history as rich and varied as the rainbow faces of its many distinct heritages.

Explore Mexico

MEXICO – (Central & West Coast):

Enjoy a Mexican beach getaway to fabulous resorts in Acapulco, Los Cabos, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. Experience great beaches and visit ancient cultures. Lounge on the beach and enjoy the pulsating Mexican nightlife. If you still prefer to travel to the usual destinations, we recommend look for hotels and resorts that offers hurricane guarantees or something similar.

Acapulco
The gorgeous beaches, romantic sunsets, and glamorous nightlife that attracted Hollywood’s hottest celebrities in the 1950’s are still very much a part of Acapulco today. This “Queen of Mexican Beach Resorts” is set around a crescent-shaped bay and framed by verdant mountains that plunge into warm, sapphire waters.

Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo
On the Gold Coast, the dynamic resort center of Ixtapa and the quaint fishing pueblo of Zihuatanejo are contrasting twins. One is bold, beautiful and full of action, and the other is a quiet wallflower, living a simple life on the outer edge of her sister’s spotlight. Ixtapa is the most modern resort on Mexico’s west coast, with half of its land protected as an ecological reserve.

Mazatlan
While other beach resorts in Mexico work hard to dazzle visitors with mega-resort excitement, the equation for a great vacation in Mazatlan is a simple one of fun, plus food, plus lots of world-class fishing. Mexico’s largest West Coast port and the second largest coastal city combines affordable accommodations with seaside charm and plenty of ways to have fun in the sun.

Mexico City
Mexico City’s historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Aztec ruins, the continent’s largest cathedral, and historic architecture make Mexico City an interesting place to visit. Mexico City is also a dangerous place to visit and security should be a major concern of anyone who visits the Mexican capital.

Puerto Vallarta
Spectacular beaches, great tanning weather and a fun city combine to make Puerto Vallarta an attractive destination. Its Bay of Banderas is the place to be, but touring the nearby jungles on horseback is also an attractive option. In addition, Puerto Vallarta is an area of Mexico that has attracted many talented artists and is known as one of the country’s centers for the fine arts.

Los Cabos
To many travelers, Cabo has become the “place to be” in Mexico. Good beaches, great shoreline, golf, fishing, and wild nightlife combine to make the Cabo area an attractive destination for a variety of travelers.

CENTRAL AMERICA:

Enjoy a different kind of vacation experience…Central American style! Lounge on the beach, visit ancient archaeological ruins and enjoy the pulsating island nightlife. Adventurous travelers will want to participate in one of the fabulous Eco-tours offered.

Liberia, Costa Rica
(Costa Rica’s western region)Liberia is the capital of the Guanacaste province and is fast becoming the new gateway to the sunny Guanacaste beaches. Over the past couple of years it has become more and more popular with tourists, just recently a new international airport in Liberia has opened up and many American airline carriers are now flying into Liberia. Liberia is very close to popular Tamarindo and its surrounding beaches and it is also becoming the preferred city to fly into if you are going to the new resorts in the Papagayo Gulf, only 30-40 minutes away. It is also very close to some popular and beautiful national parks. Parque Nacional Santa Rosa, Parque Nacional Rincon de la Vieja and Parque Nacional Guanasate are just to the north and are worth visiting.

UNITED STATES:

California
Enjoy a Los Angeles getaway and include multi-day Disneyland® Resort Park Hopper® Bonus Tickets, or Universal Studios® Hollywood. Thrill to Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland® Park plus other exciting theme park attractions and entertainment. Or travel to San Francisco and experience the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown.

Hawaii
Hawaii is enchanting. Its beauty will stun you. Its floral scents will surround you. Its culture will fascinate you. Its legends will intrigue you. Its world-class resorts will pamper you, and you’ll be treated as honored guests, as the “Spirit of Aloha” embraces you.  There are several Hawaii vacation packages, and hotels to choose from.  Day or night, flexible vacations options are available.

Las Vegas
Everywhere you look, from the Las Vegas Strip to the dazzling Freemont Street Experience, there’s an incredible variety of things to see and do. Take a roller coaster ride around Manhattan skyscrapers.  Trek through space at warp speed. Visit the world’s tallest Coke bottle, or the tallest observation tower in the United States. Take a chance with Lady Luck. Dine from buffet to gourmet. Swing into championship golf. Or relax beside a refreshing pool. These are just some of the many incredible experiences waiting for you in this remarkable desert playground.   Las Vegas is one of our top 5 hurricane-safe travel destinations.

Las Vegas Vacations

11 May Experience Las Vegas

Experience Las Vegas

The entertainment capital of the world. Plan your Las Vegas vacation, odds are you won’t forget it.

Las Vegas isn’t a place you visit. It’s a place you do. And there’s lots to do. Usually when a destination says it has something for everyone, it has one something that’s really not that interesting for anyone. Las Vegas is the exception. You can make a Las Vegas getaway anything you want, because everything you could want is here. World-class spas, haute couture shopping and restaurants from celebrity chefs. Mountain hikes, thrill rides and all-night parties. Famous casinos and even more famous entertainers. Romance. Family. Adrenaline. There’s a thousand different vacations here; you just have to pick one.

Old School Vegas
If you’re looking for old School Vegas, you’ll find it on Fremont Street. The heart of downtown’s casino district is great for inexpensive drinks, tables, and great people watching. Take a guided tour of the city and be sure to stop by the Mob Museum for a little history. Then head up to the Neon Boneyard, a collection of more than 150 of Vegas’ classic neon signs from the 1930s to present day.

High-Energy Excitement
If you want the latest and greatest, high-end shopping and hottest restaurants, try some of the newer areas like City Center or the promenade between Linq and Flamingo. Enjoy a cocktail while you take a ride on the High Roller, the world’s tallest observation wheel; a sunset or nighttime ride is a must to see the city at its most glittering. Between raucous dayclubs (think pool party plus nightclub) and some of the hottest nightclubs in the world, you can party 24 hours a day.

Entertainment
Since its Rat Pack Days, Vegas has been synonymous with legendary entertainment. That tradition continues today with Cirque du Soleil spectaculars, Broadway-caliber musicals like Rock of Ages and concert headliners including Celine Dion, Elton John and Britney Spears. And despite the city’s racy reputation, there’s no shortage of family-friendly shows that will delight all ages.

Or craving a decadent outdoor spa experience with your body caressed by tropical breezes, and a delicious candlelit gourmet Thai dinner, all on your own private island? Or longing for the lively atmosphere of a Jamaican party, sipping specialty cocktails around oceanfront pools, and strolling in tropical gardens just steps from the sea? Decisions, decisions.

Sandals Royal Caribbean

And just offshore, Sandals’ exotic private island features a pool with a swim–up bar, a secluded private beach and an authentic Thai restaurant where some of the dishes are rumored to be aphrodisiacs. You’ll be treated to gourmet dining at seven restaurants and 5 bars while enjoying full exchange privileges at the neighboring Sandals Resorts, thus giving you a choice of 11 additional dining experiences.

Eco-Tourism-Leave-no-Trace

01 Apr Rise of Eco Tourism

Ecotourism is a form of sustainable travel that supports the local environment instead of putting more pressure on it and exploiting its resources.

Things are rarely simple, however, and ecotourism is a complex concept. Its importance is growing more and more each year, as more and more people travel farther and farther away. If you care about nature, the environment, and local communities, you should ensure that your travels are carried out sustainably.

What Is Ecotourism?
Ecotourism is now defined as responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education.

What are the Principles of Ecotourism?
Ecotourism is about uniting conservation, communities, and sustainable travel. This means that those who implement, participate in and market ecotourism activities should adopt the following ecotourism principles:

  • Minimize physical, social, behavioral, and psychological impacts.
  • Build environmental and cultural awareness and respect.
  • Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts.
  • Provide direct financial benefits for conservation.
  • Generate financial benefits for both local people and private industry.
  • Deliver memorable interpretative experiences to visitors that help raise sensitivity to host countries’ political, environmental, and social climates.
  • Design, construct and operate low-impact facilities.
  • Recognize the rights and spiritual beliefs of the Indigenous People in your community and work in partnership with them to create empowerment.

Is ecotourism good or bad?
As the adage goes, too much of a good thing can turn bad. In some notable places, the onslaught of nature-loving visitors is steadily eroding the very ecosystems ecotourism intends to protect. Travelers are trampling, polluting, and gobbling up scarce resources in fragile habitats.

What is an example of ecotourism?
The term “ecotourism” in the travel industry can carry problems.  Popular international destinations for ecotourism include Kenya, Palau and Costa Rica. States that foster ecotourism include California, Louisiana and Alaska.

Ecotourism and the Environment:
Ecotourism helps protect natural habitats and pristine environments.  Ecotourism allows countries and communities to build their economies without harming the environment, which means that local wildlife can thrive and visitors can enjoy untouched destinations.

Is tourism environmentally friendly?
Almost everyone enjoys traveling. … But travel and tourism, in general, aren’t environmentally friendly; in addition to the massive fuel demands of most types of transportation, visiting natural areas could expose them to negative forms of interference, including wildlife disturbances, damage, and litter.

19 Mar A Look Inside Palmaïa Riviera Maya

The all-new Palmaïa Riviera Maya, a Sandos Resort, is located on the most pristine stretch of beach in the Playacar area of Riviera Maya, Mexico.

The location was key in the beginning stages of planning, as they wanted to integrate the natural wonders of the area into the hotel design with the least amount of impact on ecosystems. The natural, laid-back setting allows for guests to fully relax.

Sustainability was always kept at the forefront when building the resort. From start to finish, the conservation of local flora and fauna was kept in mind so the resort and wildlife could coexist properly.

Palmaïa Riviera Maya welcomes both adults and children and is made up of 314 ocean front rooms split between seven buildings. That’s right—all visitors will be escorted to their gorgeous ocean view room after a private check-in.

No matter if it’s the Ocean Front King Suite, the Ocean Front Queen Suite, Ocean Front Family King Suite or the Ocean Front Family Master Suite, guests will have more than enough amenities to keep them happy.

Each room has a balcony or terrace, TV, mini bar, bathtub, coffee maker and more. In addition, all the rooms include services such as 24-hour room service, WiFi and nightly turn-down service.

Whether it’s lounging around throughout the day or participating in activities, this resort has something for people of all ages to enjoy. There’s nightly live beach music, mezcal food pairings in the jungle and so much more.

The property offers a shuttle service for guests to conveniently get around in, and those who want a bit of added fitness to their stay can choose to use the bike share service or health trail to get from place to place.

The friendly waiters at the resort are always ready to serve refreshing cocktails both by the infinity pool and on the beach. Guests can indulge in the several restaurants on property throughout their stay and treat themselves to a spa service—or two—at the jungle spa.

In addition to enjoying everything the Palmaïa Riviera Maya resort has to offer, guests will also have access to the nearby Sandos Playacar Beach Resort. The charming town of Playa del Carmen is nearby as well, so visitors can easily spend a day exploring 5th Avenue’s restaurants, shops and bars.

If you’re in need of a long family vacation, an anniversary celebration or a group getaway, this resort is the place to visit.  Learn More….

18 Mar 7 Reasons Why You Will Love Guided Vacations in the USA

7 Reasons Why You Will Love Guided Vacations in the USA

When you hear “guided vacations,” your mind almost undoubtedly goes straight to Europe. You already know this is a great way for you to discover faraway or unfamiliar places—all the details are taken care of, you have the guidance of an expert travel director and an amazing itinerary that combines iconic places with incredible experiences you didn’t even know existed. Doesn’t that sound like a great European vacation?

But wait, doesn’t that sound like a great vacation anywhere? All the reasons you love guided vacations in Europe will ring true anywhere your travels take you, even when exploring close to home right here in the U.S.

And explore close to home most Americans do. In fact, according to MMGY’s 2017 Portrait of American Travelers, domestic vacations made up 85 percent of total American vacations, with U.S. travelers taking 13.9 million more vacations in the U.S. than internationally.

For some Americans, a guided experience may seem superfluous since they are ‘home,’ but what they don’t know is how much they are missing traveling otherwise. Guided vacations make it possible for lifelong New Yorkers to experience the ways of authentic cowboys in the Great Plains, or for rural farmers to explore bustling cities guided by the comfort of locals. If you you are looking for iconic places, truly unique experiences and a seamless vacation, guided vacations are a great option worth considering.

Read on for 8 reasons your clients will love guided vacations in the U.S. (including reasons you’ll love to sell them!).

1. Exclusive access
There are high-demand places throughout the United States and the national parks regularly top that list. One of the highlights of visiting these incredible places is staying inside the park grounds, but these coveted stays are incredibly difficult to book as an independent traveler. I can’t tell you the number of times people have told me, I’ve tried to book a hotel inside the park, but it’s nearly impossible. The parks come to life in the late and early hours between day visitors and guided tour guests are the few who get to witness these incredible places in this authentic way. Animals graze outside your windows as you relax at night, and in the morning, there is no long, complicated drive to get in—you’re there, and before everyone else.

2. Bucket-list and beyond
The guided experience goes far beyond cool hotel stays. Well-known destinations like Las Vegas or New York City, while home to icons travelers from all over the world come to see, are also home to off-the-beaten-path attractions and activities even locals wouldn’t easily find without a guided vacation. The local guides know so much about their home cities. They point out things that you’ve never heard of. They explain parts of history that you may not have learned in school. You go to restaurants and special locations that a regular tourist wouldn’t know about—hidden gems.

To share an example in Utah; explaining that guests come excited about Zion and Bryce national parks, but a visit to the unusual Goblin Valley State Park surprises even those who have visited Utah before. Most have never heard of this place, with its strange goblin-like formations called hoodoos. It’s so cool to see, yet so many miss the opportunity.

3. Unique experiences
It’s one thing to see a destination, but it’s quite another to experience it. In today’s travel culture, cookie-cutter experiences are a definite no-no as travelers seek authenticity and connection to the places they visit. Jenn, of Trafalgar Tours, loves the reaction from her guests during these heartfelt encounters, like a meet-and-greet in South Dakota with Stephen Yellowhawk, of the Lakota tribe, who performs and shares stories about his Native American traditions during a private gathering just for them. “A genuine transformation takes place when our guests connect with Stephen as he shares his unique Native American heritage,” she says. “There is no substitute for spending time, real time, with locals. This is the power of guided travel.”

No matter where you travel in the United States, guided vacations allow you to make connections and enjoy experiences you simply couldn’t re-create on your own.

4. Perfection in planning
Independent travelers spend hours and hours researching and piecing together vacations. With guided vacations, the planning is done by a team of experts who meticulously craft each itinerary so you get the most out of your vacation time. In a time-deprived society, you can’t put a price on letting someone else to do the legwork. Our team have traveled extensively throughout these destinations, taking care to find the best possible experiences. And beyond the surface, there are dozens and dozens of people behind the scenes ensuring everything runs smoothly. You can rely on experts to deliver incredible vacations to you.

5. Lasting friendships
The human factor is a key part of any vacation, and with a guided vacation, travelers mingle and forge potentially long-lasting friendships. It is a known fact that travelers seek connection. One of the big benefits is the people you’re traveling with, from different walks of life and from around the United States and even around the world. The destinations are amazing, and when you tie that in with great conversation, great company and great people, you feel part of a community, and you feel comfortable and relaxed.

6. Unmistakable value
As if there weren’t enough reasons to love guided vacations, they are a tremendous value.  Guided Vacations are a very good value, since most things are included. Everything is taken care of and you simply just enjoy the experience. You don’t have to worry about being nickel-and-dimed because you know exactly what your guided vacation is going to cost.

7. Stress-free all the way
Travelers who book guided vacations can rest assured that they’ll be taken care of every step of the way. All-in-all, guided vacations are a great fit for travelers looking to enjoy memorable vacation experiences throughout the United States.
