28 May Sandals and Beaches Resorts Introducing Layaway Plan

Sandals Resorts International has become the latest travel entity to join the layaway option. Sandals is introducing Layaway & Playaway, a payment plan similar to store layaway options that enable travelers to spread the cost of a trip to Sandals or Beaches vacation over time. There are no fees and no interest payments with the Sandals plan, which can be used at any of the 18 Sandals and Beaches resorts across the Caribbean.

How does it work?

Almost exactly the same as retail stores.  Travelers must make a minimum deposit of $49 per person when booking and then select a payment plan in which the payments can be made in installments – as few as three or as many as 24.  Book with a credit card and Sandals keeps the card on file and charges you automatically every 30 days no matter which plan you choose. Final payment must be paid in full 45 days prior to travel. Please call 1-888-963-8986 to learn more about the Layaway plan offered by Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts.

30 Apr Choose from 2 Different All-Inclusive Vacations in Montego Bay, Jamaica

Nature Preserve, Private Island, or Island Party?

Longing to discover the undiscovered Jamaica, where you can immerse yourself in lush palm groves and a pristine coastline touched by shimmering turquoise waters, nestled against a beautiful 500-acre wilderness preserve? Or craving a decadent outdoor spa experience with your body caressed by tropical breezes, and a delicious candlelit gourmet Thai dinner, all on your own private island? Or longing for the lively atmosphere of a Jamaican party, sipping specialty cocktails around oceanfront pools, and strolling in tropical gardens just steps from the sea? Decisions, decisions.

Sandals Montego Bay

This is the place where the world first fell in love with Sandals – and it’s easy to see why. Because the original Sandals still has the clearest waters anyone has ever seen, as well as one of the largest private white-sand beaches in all of Jamaica. And a fun-loving staff can help make every couple as lazy as the sun and as free as the sea – and the only rule to follow is to do whatever you please. as often as you want.

Sandals Royal Caribbean

The Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island is truly in a class by itself, renowned throughout the Caribbean for its refinements and British traditions of a bygone era such as high tea and Continental breakfast in bed. And just offshore, Sandals’ exotic private island features a pool with a swim–up bar, a secluded private beach and an authentic Thai restaurant where some of the dishes are rumored to be aphrodisiacs. You’ll be treated to gourmet dining at seven restaurants and 5 bars while enjoying full exchange privileges at the neighboring Sandals Resorts, thus giving you a choice of 11 additional dining experiences.

26 Nov 10 Underrated Caribbean Islands

Ten Underrated Caribbean Destinations

The Caribbean is not a new destination collectively, but, surprisingly, many of its islands still fly under the radar. Here are ten lesser-known and lesser-visited islands to check out.

Saba
This five-square mile island is obviously volcanic, rising out of the ocean with its high sea cliffs and nearly 3,000-foot summit. The landscape itself is charming enough to warrant a visit, with two small towns—Windwardside and The Bottom—offering a look into local life on such a small island. That said, the underwater world is what will really dazzle on Saba, offering divers and snorkelers some of the Caribbean’s best sea life and coral reefs.

St. Eustatius
St. Eustatius is also known for its beautiful underwater world, but it piles on a bit of old-world history. In the 18th century, it was one of the busiest ports of commerce between Europe and the Americas. Like Saba, it has big changes in elevation, offering overland explorers (like hikers) a plethora of opportunities.

Grenada
Grenada is an independent Caribbean country in the West Indies, having gained its independence in 1974. It was invaded by the United States in the 1980s, a move that was widely criticized internationally. So, there’s some intriguing history there. Today, Grenada is known as “spice island” for its collection of crops, like nutmeg and cinnamon, and its beaches and diving.

Montserrat
You don’t have to be an expert on the Caribbean to have heard of Montserrat. It suffered a volcanic eruption in the 1990s that changed the entire face of the island—the capital had to be abandoned, and the population was forced to seek higher ground. But things today are getting better. Geothermal energy has become an industry there, and visitors today come to explore its volcanic terrain.

St. Vincent
Another island with an active volcano is St. Vincent, the largest island in the Grenadine chain. It is famous for its large percentage of black-sand beaches (thanks to the volcanic activity), as well as its tropical, rainforest-covered hillsides. It gained its independence from Britain in 1979.

Trinidad
What makes Trinidad so interesting is that it does not depend on tourism the way other Caribbean Islands do—energy production, including oil and natural gas, remains its number one industry. This is good news for travelers, who are treated to an authentic, Latin-America-esque culture. Check out the nightlife in Port of Spain, the bake and shark sandwiches on Maracas Beach, and the La Brea tar pits.

Cayman Brac
Grand Cayman gets all the attention, and meanwhile, its sister islands, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, fly under the radar. The latter is a diver’s paradise, still very much undeveloped with mostly small, dive-oriented hotels along its shores. You can see endangered birds at the Brac Parrot Reserve, and the landscape is known for its long seacliff that runs the length of the island, known as The Bluff.

Curacao
Curacao is located in the ABC chain just north of South America. Because of its position and history, it contains a mix of four cultures—Dutch, Caribbean, Latin America, and African—and this fact makes it a remarkable island to visit. Don’t miss the charming, colorful streets of Willemstad, the pickup truck safaris in Christoffel National Park, or a bowl of iguana soup at the local market, the Plasa Bieu.

Guadeloupe
Guadeloupe’s two main islands look like a butterfly, separated by bridges and a swamp. Go hunt for waterfalls in the rainforest of the Parc National de la Guadeloupe, and visit the outer islands for a less-developed, old-world Caribbean feel. A territory of France, French is the main language spoken in the islands, and you can also see the influence in its cuisine and culture.

Dominica
If you want nature, head to Dominica, where natural wonders await. Boiling Lake, Ti Tou Gorge, and Morne Trois Pitons National Park are just a few of the highlights, with many waterfalls and lakes to explore. The island is short on beaches, so don’t come to lay around. Here, it’s all about exploring the natural landscapes, both on land and underwater.

Breezes-Bahamas

14 May A Healthy Stay At Breezes Resort & Spa Bahamas

A stay at an all-inclusive beach resort doesn’t need to be something your body hates you for the week after. We all know the deal. All you can drink. All you can eat. Minimal exercise. Maximum tanning. But the Caribbean Tourism Organization is trying to change that in naming 2018 the “Year of Wellness and Rejuvenation”.

“For those who focus on renewing body and spirit, the options are virtually endless; from beachfront workouts and yoga retreats, to wellness resorts and spa treatments, the notion of being rejuvenated in the Caribbean is one more reason to let us pamper you in 2018,” said Hugh Riley, Caribbean Tourism Organization secretary general, during a press conference announcing the campaign.

In conjunction with this campaign, whose efforts include showcasing why the Caribbean should be travelers’ number one choice of destination for wellness and rejuvenation, Breezes Resort & Spa Bahamas hosted its first ever on-site Wellness Week this pas April.

In partnership with Crunch Fitness and Dr. Rachel Goldman, a licensed psychologist specializing in health and wellness, Breezes Bahamas encouraged its guests to embrace healthy living through complimentary daily exercise classes, workshops, cooking demonstrations and more.

Led by encouraging, high energy certified Crunch Fitness instructors, classes ranged from relaxing and meditative to intense and heart pounding. In the latter category were classes that included Rainbow Meditation which encourages guests to find inner peace inspired by the chakras (energy centers) of the body and their related colors and Rise & Flow Yoga, a class incorporating sun salutes geared toward bringing energy into your day.

Sweat-inducing classes featured the popular TRX® session with ropes to push, pull, lift and lower your body through Spiderman moves for a total body suspension workout and POUND, a class that’s a fusion of movement and music where you drum along to beats with Ripstix™—weighted drumsticks designed to transform drumming into a rock star work out.

One of my favorites of the week? Silent Disco! Using silent disco headphones, you’re set to dance the night away to either ZUMBA®, Pop Dance Project or Hard Knocks (hip-hip and kickboxing fusion) while instructors lead fun workouts that get you sweating.

When guests weren’t working out, they were participating in cooking demonstrations led by Breezes Executive Chef Nigel Clarke and wellness workshops led by Dr. Rachel on topics such as mindful eating and stress reduction.

Breezes-Bahamas-All-Inclusive

In addition to the Wellness Week, Breezes Bahamas offers a whole bunch of adventurous land and water activities available to all guests for free. Water activities include ocean paddle boarding, sailing and kayaking. For those who rather stay dry, on-site is a beachside jogging track, tennis courts, sand soccer field, rock climbing, and flying trapeze.

Of course, for those that want to simply relax, Breezes Bahamas is, after all, situated on a 1,000-foot stretch of Cable Beach. Powdery white sands and clear turquoise water makes it an ideal beach getaway destination.

Within two towers are 391 air-conditioned guestrooms including five suites, 28 Ocean Front rooms and eight Beach Front Patio rooms. Moreover, the resort features a piano bar, Blue Mahoe Spa, four restaurants and option for private beach dining, four bars, a fitness center and three freshwater pools.

A stay at Breezes Bahamas means you’re going to be entertained from sun up to sun down, and well after. Once the sun sets, the fun gets started with live entertainment including dance performances, comedy and talent shows and signing. Also on the property is the Hurricanes Nightclub, for anyone who wants to dance all night long.

For those interested in getting off the Breeze Bahamas property, the town of Nassau is easily accessible by bus. Head over to Twin Brothers for their famous daiquiris or my personal new favorite drink, sky juice—a mix of gin, coconut water and condensed milk. For food, make sure to get some authentic Bahamian specialties such as conch fritters, cracked lobster and peas n’ rice.

Itching to do some shopping? Walk over to the renowned straw market on Bay Street in downtown Nassau, a massive open-air market where you can find traditional Bahamian crafts, gifts and souvenirs. Just don’t get overwhelmed and be sure to negotiate prices!

Rates at Breezes Resort & Spa Bahamas start at $296, depending on the season.
